Federal Government Increases the Number of NPower Beneficiaries by 500,000
The News – The Federal Government Administration led by President Muhamadu Buhari, in it’s magnanimity, has increased the number of NPower beneficiaries to one million (1,000,000) from the initial five hundred thousand (500,000) under the ongoing National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP).
This was disclosed by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq, while highlighting the ministry’s achievement since the creating of the programme.
The Cash-for-work programme of the N-Power which was established by the government in 2016 has over 500,000 direct beneficiaries, spread across some key industries such as Tax, Education, Agriculture & Health. The first batch started with over 200,000 youths, while the second batch kicked off with 300,000 beneficiaries.
The minister credited the increase as part of efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s initiated to alleviate 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within the next decade.
In her words: “In order to double the scope of the National Social Investment Programmes, Mr President has graciously approved the expansion of all NSIP programmes, such as increase of N-Power beneficiaries from 500,000 to 1,000,000, increase of GEEP beneficiaries by 1,000,000 and increase of beneficiaries of Home-Grown School Feeding by 5,000,000.”
